What are Cosmetic Reasons for Receiving Rhinoplasty?

If your nose is too small, too large, too flat or too broad, it can make your face seem out of proportion and imbalanced. Your nose is by far one of the most prominent facial features. Bringing more aesthetic harmony to the face through nose reshaping will make you look and feel more attractive, as well as improve your self-confidence.

What are Medical Reasons for Receiving Rhinoplasty?

One of the most common medical reasons for receiving rhinoplasty is a deviated septum, which can be attributed to impact trauma or a congenital disorder. Rhinoplasty can also be used to treat symptoms of sleep apnea; to correct or eliminate excessive snoring; and to correct persistent nose bleeds.

The nose reshaping procedure itself is among the more basic, outpatient cosmetic operations, but the healing process can be a bit of a challenge. There are some considerations that must be taken while you heal from rhinoplasty, and here are just a few:

  • Do your best to avoid bumping your nose or rolling onto your face during the night
  • You will likely have a splint (either internal or external), plus bandaging – keep it clean
  • Refrain from blowing your nose for approximately two weeks to keep bleeding at bay
  • Keep your nasal passages moist and clean – your doctor may prescribe a certain spray or drip
  • Be aware that smiling, coughing and sneezing may be slightly painful
  • Keep ice or cold compresses on the nose and eyes for at least 48 hours after the procedure to reduce swelling
  • Keep your head elevated as much as possible during the initial period of recovery

How Much does Rhinoplasty Cost?

The final expense of any cosmetic surgery will vary based on several things.  The location; the time the procedure will take; the types of technology used; and the anesthesiology required will all factor into your final costs.

Are There Risks Involved with Rhinoplasty?

Risks are inherent with any operation, but the risks involved with nose reshaping are minimal. Nosebleeds, difficulty breathing, scarring, uneven shape and localized numbness are possible side effects of the procedure.Risks are one of several aspects of rhinoplasty you should discuss with us during your pre-operative consultation. To guarantee the success of your procedure, as well as your comfort and peace of mind, discuss surgery details, post-operative requirements and reasonable expectations during your evaluation.
